Father’s Day is a time I get to reflect on my deep appreciation and respect I have for Bruce as I watch him father our little ones. Where it might not be “conventional,” what he’s teaching them will span generations. Unconditional love, kindness, strength, compassion, patience, generosity, resilience.
Happy Father’s Day to the greatest dad I know, who will forever be the gift that keeps giving within our family 💞
Hi! 👋🏽 It’s my birthday and I’ve had an epic week getting to celebrate with some of my beloved family and friends. I’m making a few BIG birthday wishes! This one I hope you could make a reality 🙏🏽 Text or call a person in your life that’s a caregiver and let them know here is X, Y, or Z I can do to help you this week. If the caregiver says, “I’m fine, I don’t need anything,” which most likely is what they just might say, then drop some food at their doorstep or flowers or a small something and text them after to let them know it’s there. Or honestly, just tell them thank you and that they are doing a great job. That kindness and support will go such a long long way. 🥰

“On behalf of the person you’re caring for that has dementia, whether they can express it or not—I want to say thank you. Thank you for loving them, thank you for spending time to educate yourself about dementia. Because that is the most compassionate thing that you can do by having more insight into their world and the life they are experiencing that they can’t always express.” Adria Thompson @belightcare
Adria, what a mic drop that was. Thank you 🤍

Passionate much? I am highly passionate about importance of brain health. There is no cure for Alzheimer and dementia, yet. But I do believe there is value in looking after our brains and having this conversation.
Our society talks about the importance of heart and breast health, prevention of diabetes, cancer, etc etc and rightfully so, but the brain health conversation shouldn’t start with our doctor when we first start exhibiting signs of cognitive decline.
Thank you Mr. Cox @coxusa for being the voice and face to support @alzheimersresearchuk and their powerful message for the #ForACure campaign. I believe that through action, education and conversation, it creates change.

Yesterday I read that Wave Life Sciences ended their clinical trial that could potentially treat frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS.) Where I’m not sure it could have helped us over here, it doesn’t really matter, it still feels like a gut punch. But I always have to look at the silver linings—they are trying. So I want to say thank you to Wave Life Sciences also to Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation and AFTD who played an active role through the Treat FTD Fund program.
Please keep that momentum going, build on the learnings/findings and don’t give up on this loving community.
Our family will continue to keep the faith and never lose hope.

So many candles on this bad boy it could have taken down our house!
None the less, what a beautiful day it was 🎂🧨
“Still” was an inspirational documentary. It was nostalgic, informative and incredibly touching. It gives a glimpse of Micheal’s world—and his family’s—living with Parkinson’s and the truth about this disease. It was heartening to see what the human spirit is all about when you are tested. Thank you to @realmikejfox and @tracy.pollan for allowing us in and educating us and for all you do within this space. You don’t have to but it’s crystal clear it’s being done for the greater good which is so very admirable and inspiring.
Parkinson’s disease effects nearly one million people in the US and more than 10 million worldwide. It’s the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s disease.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation was created to eliminate Parkinson’s disease within our lifetime. To date it has raised more than 1 billion to fund research programs. This year through the foundations PPMI study, they helped discover a biological test that can detect Parkinson’s. Head to my link in bio where you can read more about this major research breakthrough.

Here is an uplifting, feel good conversation with Ty Lewis @iamgertrudejordan who I’d like to keep on speed dial from here on out. She has a beautiful way of shifting the caregiving perspective and narrative 💓

I am so proud to be able to support Hilarity for Charity and amplify their mission through @maketimewellness social impact program. We will be donating 5% of all proceeds to help support their impactful efforts. I personally admire the work that @wearehfc does in supporting caregivers, raising awareness around dementia and the importance of brain health. They are leading the charge and making such a difference within this space.
“HFC is a national non-profit on a mission to care for families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease, activate the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates, and be a leader in brain health research and education.”
I believe that through action, education and conversation, that’s how change is made. So let’s go and join us! 🌈💗

I’ll be going Live tomorrow with Ty Lewis @iamgertrudejordan, who is a certified dementia practitioner. Our discussion is on how we can best support the caregivers in our lives. Also, ideas and ways caregivers can ask for the help they greatly need.
Please join us on IG Live, Tuesday at 10:30am PST/1:30pm EST. If you can’t join us live, not to worry, I will be saving it for you to watch at a later time! 🧡
