The Punjabi Sisterhood is Strong. @lilly x @sonambajwa ❤️
Gone are the days of Brown women competing against other Brown women. They want us to think there’s only room for one of us, but we’re too smart for that. We all grew up being compared to our cousins, but now we don’t entertain that. And when we see eachother win, we stand up and cheer for that. Because together we are stronger. Period. This is the culture.
Kuriyan Brown 👑
Ever wonder how they do those sound effects for Bollywood songs? 😂 @lilly x @nehakakkar = ❤️
THIS IS NOT OKAY. And you need to know about it. TW: death, police injustice
Jaahnavi Kandula was struck and killed in January, by a speeding police officer while crossing a crosswalk, yet the investigation into her death is JUST starting. And to be clear, it is only starting because a department employee recently flagged comments captured on the a body cam during the incident concerning.
Not only did the officer responsible laugh after stating the pedestrian was dead, but the response from his superior was, “Yeah, just write a check. Eleven thousand dollars. She was 26, anyway. She had limited value.” The officers involved are Kevin Dave and Officer Daniel Auderer.
Jaahnavi was a student at Northeastern University’s Seattle campus and was 3 months away from graduation. She was studying abroad to support her single mother back home in India. She had an entire life to live.
I’d like to thank @hindusamata @theswaddle for bringing this news onto my timeline, because otherwise I had not heard anything about this tragic event.
Whenever innocent lives are lost, is it heartbreaking and tragic. But this particular incident is infuriating for me, because I have been becoming intimately familiar with all the challenges girls in India face. To know that Jaahnavi did what only a small percentage of girls in India have the opportunity to do, which is get an education and that too abroad, but have her life taken and dismissed in this way is simply heartbreaking and unjust to the highest degree.
At what point does the world stop dismissing the value of girls and women, specifically Indian girls and women? Do you know what has no value? The patriarchal and racist systems that uphold this kind of gross thinking because it factually and statistically holds us all back.
I’m sorry Jaahnavi. You deserved better. Sending so much love to her family. And demanding #JusticeForJaahnavi
If you have the capacity to, please share.
It’s @lilly’s birthday, so let’s do two things: 1) pretend her voice is as good as @nehakakkar 👀😂 and 2) donate to her charity @unicornisland to help girls and women in India, who are in need.
100% of the money raised will go directly towards funding community-based organizations working to empower girls and young women, helping to:
💜 Provide access to education
💜 Provide school uniforms, sports equipment, school supplies, medical coverage and meals for girls
💜 Teach important life skills such as hygiene, confidence and public speaking
💜 Prevent girls from child marriage
💜 Prevent violence against girls and women
You can donate in 3 ways:
1. Right here on this IG post.
2. Visit UnicornIsland.com and click donate.
3. Facebook.com/LillySingh (which we’ve been told is the most user-friendly for people living outside of America).
Happy Birthday Lilly! Now let’s help some girls 💜

Girls in India are just like you and me. And this is what reality for millions of them looks like. With your support, we can help change that.
Gender inequality is an issue in EVERY part of the world (every country and every culture), but the size of India’s population exacerbates the problem there. There is so much lovely, brilliant human potential there that is not being realized.
I’m beyond grateful to all of you, because we’ve surpassed our fundraising goal of $35k, which means I will be matching your donations with my own $35k. Together, we’ve already raised $70k for Unicorn Island Fund (@unicornisland). And I’m happy to see that the number keeps climbing. Especially because, I have GREAT NEWS! @YouTube has also committed to a $35k contribution. Thank you! 💜
As a reminder, every dollar raised during my birthday campaign, which ends tomorrow, goes directly towards supporting community based organizations that empower girls in India. We’re talking access to education, preventing child marriage, school supplies, school uniforms, protection against violence, etc. To clarify, even if we go beyond our goal, every dollar still goes directly to the cause, and none of it will be used for Unicorn Island Fund admin or operational fees. (Check out my last post to see EXACTLY how the money from last year was used).
So my lovely unicorns, let’s finish stronger than we could have ever imagined. My birthday is tomorrow and therefore this campaign ends tomorrow night. If you haven’t donated yet, now is the time. And you can do so in 3 ways:
1. Right here on this IG post.
2. Visit UnicornIsland.com and click donate.
3. Facebook.com/LillySingh (which I’ve been told is the most user-friendly for international folks. They also accept PayPal!)
Thank you so much! Let’s keep going!

A Birthday Girl 🎈The older you get, the weirder birthdays get, amirite? Everyone keeps asking me what my plans are and honestly all I want to do is lay outside with my dog, amongst nature and reflect on all the reasons I have to be grateful. I’m literally horizontal as I type this.
When I was younger, my birthday was all about me. My gifts, my party, my favourite flavour of cake. But now, I want nothing more than to celebrate my birthday through being of service to others. The universe has granted me such an abundant life and I want to share what I can, with those that need it.
So for what may be the 100th time this week, I will remind you that my charity birthday campaign ends tonight. I’m raising money for Unicorn Island Fund, in support of girls and women in India. And I’m putting my money where my mouth is and donating $35k myself.
So, if you haven’t yet donated, this is your last chance! You can donate from anywhere in the world, in 3 ways:
1) Right here on this IG post.
2) Visit UnicornIsland.com and click donate.
3) Facebook.com/LillySingh (which I’ve been told is the most user-friendly for international folks. They also accept PayPal!)
Over the past few weeks, I’ve posted all about where exactly the money goes and I’ve tried my best to make you intimately familiar with the issue at hand. Thank you for holding space for that.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I deeply appreciate you lovely unicorns and do not take this community for granted. Together, we achieve some pretty amazing things.
Thank you God for another lap around the sun. I know you check my IG frequently, so giving you a massive shout out. Please forgive me for any faults and please guide me to be the best version of myself to fulfil my purpose 💜
Love y’all x

This is exactly where the money from my last charity Birthday campaign went. I went to India last week and visited several of these community based organizations (CBOs) myself to witness the impact first hand.
It doesn’t bother me at all when people ask me questions about where the money donated to my charity, Unicorn Island Fund (@unicornisland) goes. In fact, I respect and value that people are skeptical and want to know exactly where their money is going. I would ask the same questions! Y’all work hard for your money and deserve transparency. So allow me to be fully transparent.
If you donate to my Birthday campaign, I will match $1 for $1 up to $35k. Last year, I matched with $34k. This year, we’re going bigger because… I’m getting older lol.
Every dollar donated during this campaign will go directly towards the types of CBOs you see in this video. In fact just like last year, on Day of the Girl (Oct 11), we will announce which CBOs are getting grants from us. You can expect to see a lot of the same organizations from this video getting continued support. No money from this campaign goes towards Unicorn Island Fund operational costs, admin fees, etc. It’s also worth noting that for the past several years, every cost associated with running this charity has come out of my own pocket.
When Unicorn Island Fund gives grants to CBOs, we also receive a full report about how the funds are spent. It is with that information that we can create videos like this.
Last year, we impacted over 4000 girls, by uniting for this important cause. I hope this video gives you some insight into how meaningful that is. And I hope you’ll decide to donate to my birthday campaign this year, which is happening right now, and ending on September 26th.
You can donate from anywhere in the world, in 3 ways:
1. Right here on this IG post.
2. Visit UnicornIsland.com and click donate.
3. Facebook.com/LillySingh (which I’ve been told is the most user-friendly for international folks. They also accept PayPal!)
Thanks for your time 💜

I’m sorry, not sorry for getting emotional. I just really care about this. And I know there are 100+ other causes that are equally as important, but if you can spare any time or money, here are the things you can do:
1. Donate to this campaign. I’m matching $1 for $1 up to $35k. Instagram is glitching and crashing so I wasn’t able to add it to this post. But the link is in my bio! Or you can go to my previous post/or stories to donate directly on IG.
2. Share this campaign so others can donate.
3. If you’re financially well off, reach out to me and do a $35k match with me, so my audience’s contributions get even further amplified. Brands, I’m also talking to you.
4. If you’re someone with a following, reach out to me so we can do an IG live to further amplify (I’m trying to coordinate one for tomorrow).
And if you’re not able to do any of that, I respect that and still appreciate you taking the time to watch this. I know we’re all doing our best.
With love and light,
Lilly x

I’ll keep it 💯. I have everything I need. God has blessed me with a life full of opportunity and resources. And sure, I worked hard and never gave up, but I’m also not naive to the fact that I was born into a situation filled with privilege.
Have I ever encountered sexism? Sure. But it didn’t stop me from getting an education.
Have I ever been verbally harassed by a man while walking down the street? Definitely. But I didn’t have to marry him at the age of 14.
I’m not saying my struggles aren’t valid, but I’m aware that the implications of being a woman are much different depending on where you live. And all I’m trying to do is help my sisters in India live the life they want for themselves, just like I’ve been able to do. And chances are, like you’ve been able to do.
For my Birthday (which is on Sept 26th), I do not need flowers, cupcakes or anything else. All I want is for you to donate any amount you can to Unicorn Island Fund, so we can empower girls and women in India.
If I have ever made you laugh with my videos, feel motivated with my vlogs, giggle with my captions or feel proud via my accomplishments, please give me the gift of helping girls who so desperately need it.
Thank you x
PS: If you’re having trouble donating on IG (saying not available, etc), go to unicornisland.com and click donate instead. The website allows international donations and donations of larger amounts.
You might see Social Impact Fund as the name of the nonprofit for donations. Unicorn Island Fund is a sponsored program of the Social Impact Fund, a 501c3 charitable organization. 100% of donations made to Social Impact Fund go to Unicorn Island Fund.
My favourite part about being an artist 🥹❤️ I’m so lucky I get to create with @unicornisland.
The Mindful Adventures of Unicorn Island is available to watch now, FOR FREE, on @YouTube. Simply go to youtube.com/headspace or click the link in my bio. Two new episodes were released yesterday!
Each episode teaches kids one mindfulness exercise. And the best part? The show looks like the real world: diverse.
Thank you to all my friends, family, teachers, fellow creators, actors, entertainers and the universe in general for the constant inspiration and motivation to create characters and stories like this. Making art in your honour is truly a joy.

Superlatives look different when you’re born with less privilege. India may seem far away, but the girls and women who live there are just like you. Or just like your daughter, sister or mother. And it’s time we treat them as such.
It’s almost my birthday. And to celebrate, I am opening up my wallet and matching $1 for $1 up to $35k, for donations made to my charity Unicorn Island Fund (@unicornisland).
100% of the money raised will go directly towards funding community-based organizations (CBOs) that empower girls and women in India, in the following ways:
💜 Providing access to education
💜 Providing school uniforms, sports equipment, school supplies, medical coverage and meals for girls
💜 Teaching girls important life skills such as hygiene, sexual safety, confidence and public speaking
💜 Preventing girls from child marriage
💜 Preventing violence against girls and women
In other words, 100% of the money raised will go towards helping girls and women live a life filled with opportunities, not barriers.
You can donate from anywhere in the world, right here on this post on IG or go to unicornisland.com (link in bio). And just like last year, we’ll be announcing our grants with the total money raised on Day of the Girl, October 11.
Any amount helps! And if you’re not able to financially support, we could use your help by way of sharing this. Thank you for being part of this important mission that is so dear to my heart.
Now, let’s do some good!
PS: You might see Social Impact Fund as the name of the nonprofit for donations. If you do, that’s great – you’re in the right spot! Unicorn Island Fund is a sponsored program of the Social Impact Fund, a 501c3 charitable organization. 100% of donations made to Social Impact Fund go to Unicorn Island Fund.

When it comes to supporting girls and women, I’m a huge nerd 🤓❤️
I had a lovely time in India with @unicornisland. And as a result, I’m dedicating myself to two ideas:
1. That I will be a student for life: Because issues like gender inequality are so complex, chances are I’ll never to be able say, “I completely understand this and know how to tackle it.” And that can feel very uncomfortable and discouraging. However, I’m deciding to meet that reality with student energy. If it’s complex, I’ll keep learning. If I fail, I’ll try another method. And if things change, I’ll update my education. Sometimes people will purposely try to corner me into a tough question, and I want to make it clear that I have no issues in saying, “I don’t know,” because I do know I’m willing to do the work to figure it out. This work isn’t about ego, it’s about making progress.
2. Build a legacy: I’m not naive enough or lacking enough self-awareness to say that I won’t have superficial goals. I absolutely want the films, awards and vacation goals. I’m human. But, I’m dedicated to spending a meaningful amount of my time, energy and resources into legacy building. And I want my legacy to be helping girls and women live their lives based on their own terms. Because if I can help educate a girl, the impact of that will ripple through time and generations, even when I’m gone. That is priceless, timeless and limitless, in a way that is unlike any other goal I’ve ever accomplished.
Having said the above, last year for my birthday, I did a fundraiser for my charity @unicornisland to raise money for girls and women in India. I’m deciding to make it an annual thing. This year, it starts in two days, on Sept 19th. Stay tuned for more ❤️
Thanks for letting me nerd out! And thank you India for always giving me such insight, love and just… life. 🙏🏽
Shoutouts @saulopez for the amazing footage ❤️
IT’S FINALLY HERE! The Mindful Adventures of Unicorn Island is now streaming on @YouTube, FOR FREE. You can watch episodes 1-3 right now (link in bio!) 🦄🌴
Hours, days, weeks, months and years have gone into making this show and I couldn’t be more proud. I want to note that this show wasn’t made with a big studio, but with a small and passionate team who believes in the power of mindfulness and spotlighting mental health. I’m so proud of my company @UnicornIsland and our partners at @headspace.
I hope you love it. I hope your kids love it. Please tag me and tell me your thoughts because this project is truly so close to my heart. And if you feel compelled to, please share this with everyone in your life that lives with, works with or cares for kids.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Thank you for your support and for giving me an opportunity to create art I wish I had as a kid. Here’s to leaving the world better than we found it ❤️
