For months, Western governments “warned” Netanyahu against invading Rafah but gave him no real reason to listen. As the latest assault on Rafah begins, we don’t need any more empty words. There’s no excuse for continuing to arm the IDF. We need an arms embargo now.
Two years ago, the IDF shot dead Shireen Abu Akleh in her press vest and later denied it, before beating mourners at her funeral. When I met with Shireen’s family, they demanded accountability and justice. Instead, Israel has since killed tens of thousands more Palestinians.

Over one million people sheltering in Rafah have nowhere left to go. Aid routes have been cut. Medical evacuations have been stopped. It’s clear our government’s strategy of “thoughts and prayers” isn’t working. What will it take for them to stop enabling these war crimes?
