July is my month dedicated to finding more balance in life. It’s a topic I often discuss with my clients but has been a while since I’ve looked at my own life. I don’t typically wake up on a Monday feeling pumped, especially after a weekend of drinking, but today feels different. I’m feeling particularly good. I’ve had a chunky amount of anxiety in the last month, so I’m doing that thing all the books recommend: sitting with the discomfort, facing it head-on instead of distracting myself or trying to run away. It’s been a rollercoaster of crazy dreams and intense emotions, but in the midst of it all, I’m strangely excited about the discoveries and lessons this journey might bring. Last week looked a little like this: – Reiki with @queenicolex 🧘♀️ – Cardio and yoga only (a week off the weights) 🧘♀️ – Acupuncture 💆♀️ – Reading the page until I get it; instead of box-ticking 📖 – Having honest, sometimes tough conversations with loved ones 🥹😅 – Confronting some hard truths about myself with support from @zoedunleamindsetcoach 🫶🏼👊🏼💫 – Establishing a solid affirmation routine ✍️ – Dance classes 💃🏼 – Reevaluating my core values 🧠🧚🏻♀️ – Enjoying guilt-free fun with the girlies 👟 🍷 🕺🏼 – Indulging in Sunday snuggles and carb-heaven 🍝 🍞🤗 Who knew 38 would look like this 🤷🏼♀️
These pictures were taken 3 days apart. Everybody has a different experience of a period. Some people aren’t affected at all. I generally feel pretty strong the day before, but it hits me like a lorry the day of; I feel emotional, bloated, I get water retention and all I wanna do is sleep, eat cake, and Netflix. Ladies, if you are affected by your hormones, you don’t have to pretend you are okay or try and “push through”. Sometimes you just have to listen to what your body asks for and allow. If you are working towards a weight loss goal and don’t have the best relationship with the scales, I would certainly not weigh yourself on period week. Today I am 2KG heavier. A few years ago, This would’ve really upset me. After learning more about the woman’s body, I understand that this is very normal and not within my control. If any of my clients are reading this post, you already know what I will say: weight loss is not linear. Sometimes it doesn’t even make sense, which is why you’ve got to try your best to trust in the process. If you need some support around this, lets chat. Hit the link in my bio 🤍 @cici_onlinecoaching
Why rest and recovery is as important as training Do you find to hard to take a day off? Feel guilty when you lay in? Think napping is for lazy people? Talk negatively to yourself if you miss a training session? When you get an injury you panic with the thought that you’ll undo all of your progress? Think you should train 7 days a week? Let me quickly explain why rest and recovery is so important. Each time you train you cause microtears in the muscle which need time to recover; this done over long periods of time without rest can cause injury. Injury means little or no training, meaning no stress relief, no endorphins so our mood drops & shite sleep because we haven’t used up enough energy in the day. Trust me, you wanna try an avoid injury as much as possible because it’s so very boring. Listening to your body when it needs a night off is ultimate self love. If you have been training for a while and it has become a part of your lifestyle, you will not undo your progress by having an evening or weekend off. And if you are exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet and feel like you have plateaud with your training, maybe you what you actually need is rest. Rest doesn’t mean doing nothing, it can also mean foam rolling and yoga. 😉 You will not regret your rest but you will your injury. @cici_onlinecoaching
