Dear Friends, This hits hard. Taken during a prisoner exchange release today. The unbounded cruelty of torture, starvation, illness and neglect is visible across the entirety of this poor man’s body. I feel immense sadness at ALL this terrible suffering, while at the same time the funeral of Shiri Babass and her two sons, Kfir and Ariel is reverberating throughout Israel today. It is ALL suffering and grief for everyone. There HAS to be an END to all this horror… But this could carry on for years.
Dear Friends, THIS is what the coal front of protest and activism looks like, with none other than the extraordinary @gretathunberg in the midst and at the helm! I have so much respect and appreciation for every one of these people, who put their own safety at risk in service to the cause. These days have been profoundly disturbing, through what appears to be an axis of evil taking over so many countries in the world. The manufacturers of weaponary have absolutely no qualms about the effects of their ill gotten profits.. relying on the shredding, blasting, burning, wounding and slaughtering of everything in the path their target… no matter whether adults, elderly, children or babies.. Modern warfare is despicable and repugnant. A curse upon this earth.

You stand for the shredded and be – headed children, for the corpses blown skywards, for the countless bodies under rubble, those who were burned alive and screaming till their death.The tortured- dispossessed – shot at – bombed – starved – orphaned – wounded, traumatised and dehumanised … You bear witness to all these atrocities as testimony to ‘all humanity’.. You stand for the core values of International Human Rights, which should lie at the heart of your very foundation.

Dear Friends… This precious child… Holding two dolls that once belonged to two other little girls, who were just like her. The ‘war’ made them martyrs she says… Look at the trauma she holds in her little body.. She’s been exposed to hell on earth. She says “This war taught us everything”…Think about that for a moment. She will never ‘unsee’ the horror she has witnessed. Never ‘unknow’ every traumatic lessons she has learned. This is NOT NORMAL! This is ABSOLUTELY IMMORAL! This is WRONG in every sense of the word!! And in saying this – I must EMPHASISE that I say the same for every child of any ethnicity. Dear Friends… Some take away from this news item… After 16-17 months of absolute carnage the population is being crushed into an even smaller space. Palestinians are now facing the full annihilation of Gaza. Nothing can calculate the abhorrent catalogue of atrocities. NO AID has been allowed in for over a month. Over a hundred children have been killed or maimed every day for over the last ten days. Every red line has been crossed. 15 rescue workers were executed and buried in a mass grave. Multiple Palestinian journalists killed A Red Cross Hospital was directly hit. The only cancer speciality hospital was completely levelled. Every single paediatric hospital has been destroyed or put out of service. Palestinians are starving. Children suffer from malnutrition having been starved for over a year and a half.
Dear Friends, I’m so proud to have been able to take part in recording with @allisonrussellmusic on this beautiful song – SUPERLOVER! (🔗 link to watch and listen in my bio) For me it represents and expresses the core values of humanity, love and compassion we need to cherish and hold at the deepest level of our being. Every day we witness genocidal destruction, with an overwhelming sense of hopelessness and despair. There is an additional feeling of ‘shame’ that the weapons used are paid for by countries in which we pay taxes. Do I support the invasion of Israel on Oct 7th? – Not at ALL!! Do I want to see the return of the hostages? Of COURSE I do. I ALWAYS knew that there would be a terrible outcome for the people of Palestine, but never in my worst nightmares did I EVER think that Gaza would be turned into a graveyard wasteland. Never did I imagine that International Human Rights would be completely trashed, while the world looked on. This song appeals to our collective humanity, as a call for an end to these horrendous situations, not only in Gaza, but everywhere around the world. I can only live in hope against despair. Dear Friends, As each day passes we see unbearable images from the besieged place of hell that Gaza has become. Where, for 534 days of war, over 39,000 children are estimated to have lost one or both parents. Among them…17,000 have lost both parents. And the world still turns. Silence from global leaders. Silence from the media. SHAME ON THEM ALL.
Dear Friends, I had the good fortune to meet @allisonrussellmusic on stage through a fantastic concert at The Gorge in Seattle with @jonimitchell . We sat next to each other on a lilac couch while she played clarinet and we both sang back-up vocals with the Joni Jam peeps. I was immediately struck by her warmth and gentle kindness.. Subsequently we met on stage a couple of times more. Then she asked me if I’d like to record a song with her as a duet. I said ‘yes’ right away, without even hearing the song! It turned out to be SUPERLOVER.. This one in the video! I love Allison most dearly..She’s a unique and special person and artist! Palestinians are generally regarded as ‘animals’ and terrorists as soon as they are born and therefore ‘deserve’ every kind of abuse and sadistic punishment meted out to them. We are deeply alarmed by reports that M23 rebels have entered Bukavu, a major city in eastern DRC where our grassroots partner MKAAJI MPYA operates. The violence puts countless lives at risk, including women and girls who are already facing unimaginable hardships. Women and girls are experiencing horrific levels of sexual violence and cannot denounce it for fear of being killed. 🟠 Our partners at MKAAJI MPYA have shared heartbreaking updates: some employees have lost everything to looting, and one of their offices in Kalehe has been ransacked and vandalised. Their colleagues are now displaced, left without assistance or support, and struggling in dire conditions. Support is more than urgent!
