Dear Friends,
This is one of the many reasons I have been deeply concerned about since the terrible events of Oct 7th, when it was clear that Israel would retaliate. Violence begets violence with never ending cycles of attack then ‘attack back’ – retribution – vendetta and revenge.
As average citizens we don’t necessarily know the political, military and financial intrigue behind the scenes..Basically I believe all most people want is ‘peace’ and ‘security’.
I wish ‘peace’ for Israelis as much as I wish ‘peace’ for Palestinians and now this conflict of interests is beginning to spread, as I always dreaded it might.
This world is under the worst kind of threat, with climate change and global warming. We need peaceful co-operation between countries more than ever, but WAR becomes the diversion and distraction away from the ultimate existential crisis.
Such a shameful travesty.

I desperately hope it won’t take place, but to all intents and purposes that intention has been clearly stated.

Every day I wake up in the hope that this appalling debacle comes to an end.
On the 201st day of indiscriminate bombardment, killing, wounding, death, torture, famine .. on and on…
I look at these figures in abject horror and despair. FOURTEEN THOUSAND INNOCENT CHILDREN KILLED ?????!!!!!
Look through the papers.. Their headlines refer to D Trump’s trial, or some celebrity break – up…
FOURTEEN THOUSAND dead children seems to be almost a meaningless number to the media..
I come from an ethical, humanitarian perspective. I’ve always wanted to see justice harmony and peace in the Middle East.
Pandora’s Box was opened on Oct 7th, when Hell was unleashed.
After 200 days, the numbers of mortalities and levels of abject destruction are absutely incomparable..
And OF COURSE I WANT TO SEE ALL THE HOSTAGES RETURNED.

A HORROR STORY FOR CHILDREN IN GAZA…
James Elder (@james_unicef ) has worked as a spokesperson for UNICEF for TWENTY years and says this is the WORST thing he’s ever seen. The ICU wards are FILLED with THOUSANDS of little children, like 5 year old Selma.
Many of them don’t survive, despite the BEST efforts of doctors and nurses…This is absolutely intolerable!!!! The harming, wounding and killing of children is completely abhorrent.
Stand in solidarity with humanity – decency – kindness and compassion!!!

After volunteering for 2 weeks at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, where over 50% of the population are children. Overwhelmingly the victims were toddlers, infants and teenagers.

I’ve joined The Circle @thecirclengo in writing to British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, to demand that more action be taken to bring an end to this war.
Considered to be the world’s largest displacement crisis, with approx NINE MILLION people fleeing their homes – the conflict in Sudan has largely gone unnoticed.
As usual, women and girls are bearing the brunt of the conflict, with sexual and gender-based violence being perpetrated by all parties in the conflict, and widespread across the country.
As the penholder on Sudan at the UN Security Council, the UK leads the Council’s negotiations and resolutions on the country.
Along with other figures from the ‘Arts’ we are calling for the UK government – and other key states – to put meaningful pressure on the warring parties and the states that sponsor them – to stop this tragic war.
