My not so secret weapon for staying fit over 40 is strength training. I use a variety of styles from basic movements with heavy weights, to compound movements with lighter weights. Form is always priority number one, but my mobility and core strength is also very important.
Building and/or maintaining our lean muscle mass is crucial as we get older. Strength training can help with hormone balance, maintaining better blood sugar levels, better bone health, weight management, improved posture & better sleep just to name a few things.

Quick satisfying & delicious 𤤠AND good for your gut!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup almond flour
2 large eggs
1 Tbsp. Unsweetened plain coconut yogurt
1 tsp. Olive oil mayonnaise
1/4 tsp. Baking powder
1 dash sea salt (or Himalayan salt)
Directions:
Preheat Belgian waffle iron; lightly coat with spray
Add almond flour, eggs, yogurt, mayonnaise, baking powder, and salt to a mixing bowl; stir to combine
Add batter to waffle iron; cook for 4 min or until waffle iron indicates finished
Cut waffle in half; use to make a sandwich (or in any recipe that calls for sliced bread)

Fit over 40, strong core addition
Iām all about a strong core, not just for the way it looks but because itās so important to our our health. A strong core gives you better posture, reduced back pain, improved stability, better athletic performance, improved digestion, and better functional movement, to name just a few things.
I like to add the mini resistance loop for more of a challenge but if youāre just getting started, try the moves without it first. Form is more important than adding the resistance. Perform 2-3 sets of 10-20 reps. Core work is built into all of my programming but I also add in 5-10 min of specific core training 3xs a week.

Restaurants tend to serve huge portions, they can easily make more than one meal. Hereās how I hit my macros & keep them balanced when ordering from a restaurant. Keep in mind my overall goal is health and maintaining my current weight & lean muscle mass.
And before anyone attacks about healthy fat, with Portion Fix & 4 Week Gut Protocol we get several servings of healthy fat a day. Itās vital for hormone health and satiety. But we get it from several different foods for variety. The blue container is for things like nuts, avocado, hummus and dairy.
