No matter what you believe should happen in the Middle East, what marches you’re attending, or what flag you’re flying, there’s one thing we can all agree on: rape is never okay.
On October 7, Hamas terrorists brutally raped women and girls. The evidence is clear — yet the silence on these war crimes is deafening. Refusing to loudly condemn these rapes — or any rapes — is a massive step backward for the women and men of the world.
In my @cnn op-ed, I’m urging everyone to break the deafening silence and denounce these rapes.
Today is Yom HaShoah, the annual day of remembrance for the 6 million Jews who were killed during the Holocaust and the millions more who were killed for who they were. It’s a day to remember the victims, honor the righteous people who helped others survive, and reflect on what kind of world we want to build and leave for our children.
This is deeply personal for me and so many Jews. My great-great-grandmother, Chana Bassa, left her home in Vilnius, Lithuania, to escape religious persecution. I would not be here today if it wasn’t for her courageous journey to Ellis Island in June 1889. If she had not left, my family almost certainly would have been killed in the Holocaust. Growing up hearing about her experience along with the millions who endured the horrors of the Holocaust, opened my eyes to how much evil there could be in the world – and how we have to stand firmly against hatred of all kinds always.
As Jews, we say “Never Again.” Since October 7th, this vow is more resonant than ever. During times as polarizing and scary as these, we owe it to our ancestors to speak out against racism of all kinds. We owe it to our children to work towards a world free from prejudice and hate.
I spoke with @biannagolodryga on @cnn about @screamsbeforesilence and why it’s so critical we condemn sexual violence wherever it occurs. I encourage everyone to watch #ScreamsBeforeSilence with an open mind and open heart. It’s available on YouTube at the link in my bio.
Sheryl Sandberg (@sherylsandberg) joins the podcast to discuss her new documentary @screamsbeforesilence, why the denial of the sexual violence Hamas committed in Israel is so dangerous, and the question she started asking her friends after October 7th. Full episode at link in bio.
“One thing is for sure. We will not stop standing up for ourselves. We are proud to be Jews, and we are proud to be Zionists.”
We continue to be inspired by the words and commitment of the HUNDREDS of students who have signed In Our Name: A Message from Jewish Students at Columbia University. Read the full letter at the 🔗 in our bio.

Yesterday Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (@repdws), Senator Joni Ernst (@senjoniernst), Representative Mario Diaz-Balart (@repmariodb), and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (@senkirstengillibrand) hosted a Congressional screening of @ScreamsBeforeSilence. We were joined by Leader Schumer (@senschumer) who is always a strong voice for women and for justice.
Together we discussed the sexual violence Hamas committed on October 7th, the alarming rise of antisemitism, and how we can push for the return of hostages.
We were also joined by two people I admire so much: Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin, whose son Hersh was taken hostage by Hamas and remains in captivity. Every day since October 7th, Rachel and Jon have relentlessly advocated for Hersh and all of the hostages. Their ability to find strength in unimaginable pain is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
It was so powerful seeing a bipartisan group of leaders come together to stand against sexual violence. May their example inspire us all to unite around this fundamental truth: rape should never occur in peace or war.

Happy #MothersDay to all the incredible moms in my life.
My mom, @adele.sandberg, has provided an endless supply of love and support to my siblings, children, and me — and has done so with unfailing generosity. She has a unique gift of always finding the silver lining of life’s biggest challenges, encouraging everyone she knows to do the same. Mom, I can never thank you enough for being my first call, my biggest cheerleader, and the person I most hope to live up to.
@tom_bernthal’s mom, Joan, embraced me as her daughter from the first moment we met. She exudes warmth and care in every interaction. Joan has an innate understanding of the needs of those around her — whether she’s offering a comforting word, a big hug, or simply being there.
Even with all this joy, we’re also missing Dave’s mom, Paula today. Paula devoted her life to working with children with disabilities while raising two incredible sons. Her commitment to making the world a better place continues to inspire me and my children.
To all the moms and mother figures, thank you for everything you do to lift us up. Your strength and guidance make all the difference. And to anyone finding this day tough, please know I’m sending you my love.

Congratulations to my friend Andrew Cameron (@acamero5) for being named Director of the Department of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Andy and I went to college together, where he was the most intense pre-med student I had ever met — and someone who managed to be a great friend and a lot of fun at the same time. 35 years later, he is now taking on one of the most important roles in the medical field. His brilliance is only matched by his kindness and dedication to saving lives.
Andy – I can’t wait to see the even larger impact you will have.
Go @wearebayfc! @tom_bernthal and I visited the team to talk about leadership, career paths, and the ways they are helping transform women’s sports for future generations.
We can’t wait to see what they accomplish this season and beyond. #BLegendary #WeCameToPlay #BayFC

My dear friend, @leaninorg Circle member, and phenomenal artist @rachelplatten released an incredible new song: “Bad Thoughts.” It is honest, raw, and deeply moving.
Originally titled “Listen to this if you’re having a panic attack,” Rachel told me this song is about one of the hardest moments of her life. She wrote the words she needed to hear the most. By putting this song out in the world independently, Rachel will help so many others who are struggling. And she’s reminding us all to “breathe in and breathe out.” I hope everyone listens.
One year ago today, I christened Massachusetts — taking part in a ceremony that goes back centuries to bring good luck and safe travels to this ship and her crew.
Over the last year, Massachusetts has hit milestone after milestone. It was awarded the @usnavy Battle Effectiveness Award for 2023, which recognizes the highest level of naval readiness. The ship took to the water for the first time in February. And every day, our incredible crew — led by Commander Michael Siedsma (@swimbikerunsubmerge) — has courageously shown up to serve our country.
To our dedicated shipbuilders and our brave and inspiring crew, thank you. Serving as Massachusetts’ sponsor is truly the greatest honor (and still the coolest thing I have ever done!). #SSN798 #NewportNewsShipbuilding
