One year down. Infinity to go. A year ago, I decided to treat my own fitness, nutrition and wellness like a true experiment — not a phase or fad, not a challenge that could be failed, but a living lab for what works (and what really doesn’t) in the real world of busy schedules, injuries, travel and all the messy life-isms that pop up. I decided to make an investment in my health and my vitality. I tracked my HRV. I got in the cold plunge. I sweated it out in the sauna. I hit my protein and fiber targets. I lifted heavier than I did at 36 — at 56! I committed to cleaner eating, better sleep (well… most nights), more parasympathetic activation, and smart training thanks to @koreyrowe with progressive overload, compound movements, unilateral exercises, barefoot training and HIIT and Sprint Interval Training. Was it perfect? Nope. But that’s the point of an experiment: you learn, you adjust, you observe your own data. You stay curious about your body and what it can do when you take care of it. One year of the Wellness Experiment. One stronger, healthier and happier me. One big thank you to everyone who’s been along for the ride and inspired me with their support. I can’t wait to see what Year 2 looks and feels like! #WellnessExperiment #StrongerAt56 #fitnessover50 #RealLifeWellness #Fitness #ScienceOfMe
Exactly one year ago, this was me: Skinny Fat: I weighed 122 lbs, and the crepey skin was starting. Every day, I had back pain and I thought that was just part of being 55. One day, I decided to ask myself a question: what would it take to level up my fitness, nutrition and wellness practices? Because of this curiosity, I started the wellness experiment. I tried a new approach with my workouts as a result of partnering with trainer Korey Rowe, that incorporated strength, mobility and performance training, I tightened up on my nutritional approach and I leaned in to wellness practices based on my scientific deep dive. Sharing this journey here led to the development of Ajenda’s Wellness Experiment program, which is changing the lives of women all over the country. And today, for me, I am stronger, healthier and happier at 56 and 126 pounds, than I was at 36, and now have a biological age of 38- yes I had this blood test and was shocked at the result! ( And the crepey skin? much less because of the increased lean muscle mass/ changes in body composition!) Comment EXPERIMENT to start your own Wellness Experiment designed by me and professional trainer Korey Rowe, to get daily meal plans, nutritional science, wellness routines and the exact workout program I followed… a system backed by science, formatted with structure, live zooms and an unparalleled community. 💪🏼🥑🧘 #ajenda #drjenashton #healthyliving #beforeandafter #wellnessjourney #fitnessover50 #ukfitness #usfitness #swissfitness

Viability over vanity. In our 20s, 30s, even our 40s, fitness is usually about the surface stuff. But as we move into our 50s, 60s, and 70s, something shifts… and we start wondering about things we never paid attention to before. Why does my balance feel different? Why is my stamina changing? Why does “healthy” suddenly feel more complicated than it used to? That curiosity is a good thing. It’s the moment we start looking past fads, past extremes, past the quick fixes — and toward a more thoughtful, structured way to care for our bodies. Strength, mobility, energy, stability, stamina, confidence… these aren’t trends or buzz words. They’re the foundation for living well, and they’re exactly what the Wellness Experiment is built around. No gimmicks. No harsh or extreme rules. Just a holistic, science-backed system that helps you understand your body and support it in a sustainable way. If you’re curious about what feeling stronger today than you did 20 years ago can look like — and you want a guide that’s rooted in science, with a sisterhood of support and no hype — comment EXPERIMENT and I’ll send you the link. It’s a calm, methodical approach that’s already helped over 12,000 women, and it meets you exactly where you are. If you’re ready to explore what your body can do now, I’d love for you to join us. #DrJenAshton #WomensHealth #HealthyAging #StrengthAtEveryAge #ViabilityOverVanity

Something I’ve learned and lived this year: the best wellness metric isn’t your VO2 max, your HRV, or your visceral fat number… (though those things definitely matter)…it’s the energy and light that can be seen in your eyes and in your smile. It’s living with intellectual, emotional, and physical purpose. It’s feeling and doing what your body and spirit need, with intention, curiosity and confidence… to not only look better, but to feel better, live better and do better. #drjenashton #lessonsfrom2025 #yearinreview2025 #fitnessover50 Photo cred @jpatrickphoto
As someone with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition, I get this question all the time: “Can I add creatine to my coffee?” because of a concern about the coffee inactivating the creatine… ☕️💪 Here’s the truth — The science here is inconclusive. 1️⃣ As many studies show positive effects as show negative or neutral ones. 2️⃣ There’s something called the food matrix — the form of a given food and what it’s mixed with matters. 3️⃣ Potential downsides? GI upset or dehydration — both are possible with creatine or caffeine on their own; combining them can increase that risk. Here’s a great review on creatine with a special section on combining it with caffeine. Antonio, J., et al. (2024). Part II. Common questions and misconceptions about creatine supplementation: what does the scientific evidence really show? J of the Intl Soc of Sports Nutrition, 22(1). It sums up this issue with this comment: “”short-term Creatine monohydrate and caffeine ingestion (<5 mg/kg/day) likely does not cause opposing muscle effects. The long-term possible interference effects of CrM and caffeine are unknown.”” There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here — and if someone says otherwise, they’re probably not qualified to be giving that advice. From my weekly Ajenda Wellness Experiment Zoom — let’s talk about sugar and your brain’s response. 🍭🧠 Here’s the thing: your brain doesn’t care what kind of sugar you eat. “Healthy” sugar, processed sugar — it all triggers the same reaction in your brain’s reward center. The moment something sweet hits your tongue, that center lights up — and what happens next? You crave more. It’s biology, not willpower. #DoseOfHonesty #SugarScience #BrainHealth #WellnessExperiment #NutritionFacts
A lot of people ask me who writes the newsletter. The answer: I do. ✍🏼 I love to write (which is probably why I’ve written 6 books). As for topics? Sometimes they come from a follower’s question, a conversation with a friend, or a breaking health headline. Other times, it’s something that deeply resonates with me. Every issue is: 💡 Conversational — it feels like we’re chatting. ⚖️ Holistic — I give both sides of an issue. 📚 Evidence-based — focused on the areas I’m credentialed in and passionate about: nutrition, weight management, ob-gyn, women’s health, menopause. It’s free, weekly, and comes straight to your inbox. And I’m proud to say it has a 66% open rate (which I thought was low… until I learned the average is only 22%! 🙌🏼). Thank you for reading, opening, and sharing — it means the world. 💛 If you want to start getting my newsletter, comment “AJENDA” and I’ll send you the sign-up link. #Newsletter #WomensHealth #NutritionTips #MenopauseMatters
Las Vegas speaking event: although the state of women’s health leaves a lot to be desired/ improved upon, one thing is for sure, it always makes headlines.
Eating healthy doesn’t mean never indulging! Here’s an easy recipe for people who hate to cook…like me! Meet these Vegan, 15-minute, easy Spent Coffee Grounds Chocolate Chip Cookies! This recipe uses spent coffee grounds (loaded with fiber, antioxidants, and yes… caffeine) and olive oil for healthy fats. It was my first time making them and honestly? A solid 7-8 /10. (Note: I made them again the next day and they were a 10/10…I don’t think I stirred the first batch well enough!) The olive oil flavor was actually delicious, and now, I’m obsessed with them. And the fact that I’ve actually made these again says a lot, given how much I dislike cooking! Here’s the recipe: Ingredients: • 1.5 cups bread flour • 0.5 tsp baking soda • 0.5 tsp salt • 3.5 oz golden or white granulated sugar • 3.5 oz dark brown sugar • 1.4 oz leftover espresso grounds (decaf or regular) • 2.8 oz extra virgin olive oil • 1.5 fl oz soy milk • 1 tsp white miso • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 5 oz dark chocolate (at least 70% cacao) A quick walk-through of the steps: 1. Mix dry ingredients — flour, baking soda, salt. 2. Whisk wet ingredients — olive oil, soy milk, miso, and vanilla along with the sugar. 3. Combine wet dry to form your dough. 4. Fold in dark chocolate then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (longer is better) 5. Scoop and bake at 350°F for 12-14 minutes. ***note: I have experimented with gluten-free flour for this: still delicious, but defiitely less moist! Truly simple. If I can do it, anyone can. Here’s the full recipe link — let me know if you make them and how they turn out: https://bakinghermann.com/coffee-grounds-chocolate-chip-cookies/#recipe #DrJenAshton #DoseOfHonesty #HealthyRecipes #VeganBaking
We’re back with another endocrinology rapid-fire Q&A with the one and only Dr. Anne Peters — and this time we’re tackling adrenal insufficiency. We get into: • Is adrenal insufficiency real… or overhyped? • What a true diagnosis actually looks like • How food and nutrition affect the adrenal glands • Diets marketed around “adrenal health” — fact vs fiction • Salivary hormone testing • Thyroid function as we age • The biggest misconception people have about “adrenal fatigue” And yes… we also addressed the matching outfits. 👯♀️ Always a pleasure (and a masterclass) talking science with Dr. Peters.
